Methods of applying Filter wool in DSR arranged by their effectivity:
1- a pump with  filterwool in the display  is the most effective, but you will get in trouble with the wife.
2- filterwool on the intake of the main pump is the second most effective because al water must pas through there.
3- an extra pump with filterwool is a temporary solution, and the most expensive one. (extra pump and higher energy bill)
4- filterwool on your streamer  is more effective than  filterwool in  your sump compartments, but don't resemble the results of 1 and 2. Beside that you streamers function will be limited by the clogged filterwool.
5- filterwool  in a compartment in the sump is not very effective, because you can't build pressure on the filterwool.
6- filterwool just dumped into the sump is a waste of time and space, it's only function could be building extra biomass.

when plowing througg the sand it's recomended to replace the filterwool whenever it start to show micro bubbles, the pump is cavitating because the  filterwool is clogged up. Letting the pump cavitate for a while is a great fine particle filter and will  turn you water crystal clear. This effect resembles the use of active carbon.

note: always rinse your new filterwool with hot water. When you don't do that your skimmer will boil over.

Methoden van watten gebruik in volgorde van effectiviteit in DSR:
1- pomp met watten in de bak is het het meest effectie, echter super lelijk en krijg je ruzie met moeders de vrouw.
2- op de opvoerpomp is het het meest kosten effectief , omdat je geen extra pomp nodig heb en al het water moet er langs.
3- een extra pomp is de sump is een lap middel en de duurste oplossing.
4- watten op je streamer is iets effectiever als watten in een extra compartiment in de sump, maar bij lange na niet zo effectief als opti 1 en 2.
5- watten in een apart compartiment in de overloop of sump is minder effectief, omdat je geen druk kan opbouwen op de watten.
6- watten los is de sump is een sta in de weg en mag alleen als biomassa geklasseerd worden.

Bij het omwoelen van de boden is het zaak de watten meermaals te vervangen, want deze gaat dan caviteren. Het caviteren is juist goed, omdat je vanaf dat moment de fijnste delen uit het water haalt. het werkt bijna als en kool filter.
ik laat soms de pomp en middag lang caviteren juist om het water extra helder te maken. ik haal het eruit als de micro bubbles storend worden.

waarschuwing: altijd je nieuwe filterwatten met heet water spoelen. Doe je dat niet dan "kookt" je afschuimer over.
